How to reduce alert message frequency?

Hello, I'm an experienced OSX sysadmin but a Lithium noob. I now share administrative responsibility for our Lithium deployment with the engineer who set it up. He is over his head with other projects so I'm looking for help here.

The current problem with the environment is that it's sending email about every problem every 60 minutes. This is problematic for things like raid controller buzzers and disk-space threshold alarms that we may choose to leave unfixed for now, but still care to be notified of quickly should they be fixed, but then alarm again in the future.

Ideal would be if we could get an alert promptly when these things go into an alarm status, but then get "Reminder" alerts only every 24 hours after that. I've identified the "Default SMTP Alert" Action that I believe is the source, however if I reduce its frequency I assume it would then take longer to get the first alert when something has gone into an alarm status.

How can we reduce the frequency of "Reminder" alerts while keeping "New" alerts prompt?

    Hi Matthew,

May I direct you to this recorded training sessions which was sub-titled "How to tell Lithium to just Chill Out":

Let me know if that helps or if you still have some questions.

    Cheers!

Thanks James. Just watched the video, and learned thereby how to turn off undesired triggers, tune the threshholds for triggers, and how to make such changes apply across machines or locations. Useful info!

The video does not address my question above however. We still want to be notified promptly when a new incident occurs, but want to reduce the frequency of "Reminders" substantially. How can we do this?

Hm, my initial report was incorrect: the reminder frequency is actually 12 hours. We are still interested to reduce it to 24 hours. Thanks.

    Hi Matthew,

    Ahh I see.

Could you send me through some screenshots of how you have the actions configured at the moment? I should be able to help from there.
